Then you hear of a worldwide phenomena: 
​that the dead refuse to be buried until all war stops.

Upon These Boards proudly presented a large-scale production of the expressionist anti-war play Bury The Dead in New York City, staged in the Grand Hall at the historic Cooper Union Building.​ The cast included an ensemble of New York's finest working actors, and featured:

* Kathleen Chalfant: esteemed theater & screen actor who created the role of Hannah Pitt in Angels In America. * Buck Henry: American treasure who wrote and/or co-wrote the screenplays of The Graduate, Catch-22 and What's Up, Doc? * Denis O'Hare: winner of the Tony Award & Drama Desk Award, and Tony & Emmy Award nominee.

Bury The Dead is by the American author & playwright Irwin Shaw and dramatizes the action of dead soldiers who refuse to be buried. It was first staged in New York City in 1936 to great acclaim. Irwin Shaw - the son of Ukrainian immigrants - was the author of The Young Lions and Rich Man, Poor Man, and won two O. Henry Awards.

This 2005 benefit raised funds
