Randall Stuart’s work as a theatre artist spans five decades, and includes productions at regional theaters, opera companies, summer festivals, and large-scale benefits for the public good. As a director & actor, Randall's work has been seen on the stages of the American Conservatory Theater, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Berkeley Rep, Seattle Rep, Portland Rep, Artists Rep, A Contemporary Theater, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Encore Theater Company, Santa Cruz Shakespeare Festival, among others. Randall trained at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco (1974-79).

Randall created the artistic producing platform Upon These Boards in San Francisco in 2002, and was awarded the 2003 Bay Area Critics Circle Award for Lysistrata Project: A Worldwide Theatrical Peace Event, in what was the largest staged rendition of Aristophanes' play Lysistrata, performed at Berkeley Rep for two sold-out performances. Now located in New York, In 2009 Mr. Stuart founded and ran the arts & humanities organization Cerimon House in Oregon, which featured, among other immersive undertakings, The Creative Path labyrinth project.

Mr. Stuart has taught in a variety of college, university, and professional theater training programs, and as an author & playwright has been commissioned to create stage adaptations of classical material. His work as a teaching artist includes the American Conservatory Theater [A.C.T.] leading the Advanced Training Program in productions of Shakespeare, Shaw, Brecht & Weill, Gozzi, and Churchill; and as a guest teacher & director at Southern Oregon University, Pacific University, University of California Santa Cruz, and the Berkeley Rep School of Theater.

Randall Stuart is the author of the recently published SQUIRE - The Chronicle of John Hardyng, which charts the path of an actor's investigation into a "character who wasn't there." Portions of the book were shared in spoken concert form [September, 2024] to honor theatre mentor James Edmondson, and salute the 90th Year Anniversary of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. As a staging director for the creative team of Macy's Passport - the nation's largest benefit in the 1990's to fund HIV Research at UCSF Health, Randall co-created original performances works with choreographer Deborah Brown of Cirque du Soliel, the aerial company Aero/Betty, the percussion sensation Stomp, Imago Mask Theatre & Pink Martini.

As a global citizen Mr. Stuart has involved himself in community human rights benefits and world peace demonstrations, and is featured in the documentary The Arms Race Within as a member & emcee of the Puget Sound Agape Community, and in the Brian Lindstrom documentary Alien Boy, The Life and Death of James Chasse as an eye witness to an infamous execution of justice. Now positioned on the edge of the Hudson River he works on a sweeping ancestral epic The Resplendent West, and feels quite fortunate to have lived a long life "upon the boards".
