The Labyrinth
as a Tool of Meditation
|
The Creative Path Walk was created as a monthly immersive meditation in which the participants traverse a large-scale labyrinth pattern. It was conceived by Randall Stuart, with the partnerships of theatre set designer Jeff Seats, set painter Elecia Beebe, and with additional environmental design by theater artist Jo Pierce. What is unique about this particular adaptation of the Reims Cathedral Labyrinth historic pattern is its three-dimensional quality: the participant is traveling the pattern on the floor while encountering artful installations along the way. The experience includes fresh impressions each time, a familiar journey which is consistently full of surprise and meaning.

The practical and curricular application of The Creative Path Walk project was enhanced by members of The Liminal Space Society, who helped in making the monthly programming possible: studying patterns & influences, touring various indoor/outdoor installations, as well as presenting lectures at The Labyrinth Society national conferences.

Going forward is always a great thing to do,
as long as you trust that there's a reverse path
to bring you right back home, to reflect on where you've been.
