Author & Playwright

Randall Stuart’s work as a theatre artist spans four decades and includes productions at regional theaters, summer festivals, opera companies, and university and professional theatre programs. As an author and playwright he has a deep interest in the development of new plays and stage adaptations. His productions of The Women of Troy, The Inkwell Communiqués, Fools Fall (adapted from Timon of Athens) and the musical A Lovely Day (adapted from Ghelderode's Pantagleize) have all enjoyed full productions. Along with a large-scale merging of The Beggar's Opera with The Threepenny Opera, and Euripides' Medea with Moliere's The School For Wives, Randall has also created streamlined versions of various Shakespeare comedies for college productions.

Randall has adapted literature for World & Community Peace benefits, including Lysistrata [Bay Area Critics Circle Award]. Commissioned by the Portland Opera Company, his adaptation of Rossini's La Cenerentola [Cinderella: An Angel In The Ashes] has toured throughout the State of Oregon off-&-on for 20 years, including this year: 2023. He has been a contributing editor on various book projects, including Through Her Eyes: The Art and Life of Painter Betty Chilstrom by Robin Chilstrom [2018] and Architecture Mandalas by David Vala [2023].

Randall Stuart is presently working on three extensive literary projects: a memoir/documentary project entitled Backstage Left which treats on matters historical & theatrical, The Resplendent West which shines a light on matters ancestral, and
Wise Fools in collaboration with his colleague Larry Paulsen.
